Amid high tensions with the United States Postal Service, Cher is one of the many celebrities trying to help save the service. However, she tweeted recently that she offered to volunteer at two different post offices and was turned down. “NO, IM NO KIDDING…COULD I VOLUNTEER AT MY POST OFFICE ⁉️,” she writes on Twitter, addressing her following. “IS NO ONE GOING TO HELP ME WITH POST OFFICE 🙄”
Just after an hour of those tweets, she shares her rejection with her following. “OK, Called 2 post offices In Malibu. They were polite. I Said ‘Hi This Is Cher,& I Would like to know If you ever take Volunteers⁉️ Lady Said She Didn’t Know & Gave Me # Of Supervisor. I Called & Said Hi This is Cher Do U Accept volunteers. ‘NO, Need Fingerprints & Background Check’😥”
Cher is not the only celebrity who has been trying to come up with a way to help the postal service. John Ratzenberger, the mailman from the TV show Cheers, came up with an idea on how to help. “Help your local post office, and go down there and buy something,” he says. He encourages doing some early Christmas shopping and buying some things from your local USPS right now.
The USPS has been struggling since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. But now, tensions are even higher as the 2020 election inches closer and changes have been made to the USPS to eliminate mail-in voting to ultimately avoid voter fraud.
