Kelly Clarkson recently clapped back at a fan’s nasty comment about her divorce. She defends herself as a working mom after a fan said her marriage “didn’t work” because of her own busy schedule. The Twitter user said “no wonder her marriage didn’t work” in response to Clarkson’s filling in for Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent.
“Wow. Shaming a woman who has a great work ethic, is a great mom, and who steps up and fills in when a friend asks for a favor because that’s actually what ‘good old country girls’ do…. this can’t be who you are deep down,” Kelly responds. “I have more faith in your heart. Aim higher please.”
Since Kelly’s response, the original tweet has since been deleted. Kelly is mom to daughter River Rose, 6, and son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 4. She shares both of them with now-ex, Brandon Blackstock. Kelly stood in for Simon Cowell on AGT after the judge fell off an electric bicycle and required back surgery. A source tells PEOPLE that Cowell is in “good spirits” and “walking around again as much as he can.”

Kelly has even joked about emulating Cowell’s tough reputation on the show. She said she aims to bring “country” to the judge’s panel because she has the “worst British accent in the universe.”
Back in June, Kelly did open up about motherhood and that while it’s challenging, there’s no greater gift in her mind. “You are going to be inspired to do all of these magical things with your kids. Do things you’ve never done before. Try things you’ve never done before,” she says. “It is such an awesome experience being a parent. I know it can be overwhelming, but it is so amazing. You aren’t just molding their little lives — it’s changing you in the process, too.”
