Princess Beatrice Wore Queen Elizabeth’s Wedding Dress And Tiara At Her Nuptials

Princess Beatrice recently got married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. They had a stunning wedding at All Saint’s Chapel in Windsor Great Park. Beatrice’s wedding gown and tiara were loaned to her by her beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. Reports say they have always been very close, and the Queen saved the tiara especially for Beatrice’s big day.

Beatrice wore a vintage ivory Peau de Soie taffeta dress by Norman Hartnell. The designer also made the Queen’s wedding gown. Beatrice also wore the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara. Her mother, Princess Anne, and of course, the Queen wore the tiara on their wedding days. The Queen wore it in 1947.

PEOPLE reported, “The Queen saved this grand tiara specifically for Beatrice. It was always reserved for her as they are exceptionally close. [It is] arguably the most sentimental [piece] lent from the Queen yet.” The Queen wore the gown that Beatrice wore on several occasions in the ’60s.

The couple was originally supposed to get married at the end of May, but the wedding was rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The couple wed in front of a very small crowd and no hymns were sung to avoid spreading the virus.

In addition, “The Queen was the guest of honor, and it was very important that she was there. It was planned for some time, and everyone had to be extremely cautious leading up to the big day because the Queen was in attendance. They had to make sure everyone who was attending was in perfect health.”
