A man named Owen recently had to cancel his birthday party due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. United Nations representative Mohamad Safa shared on Twitter that Owen had to cancel this event and urged everyone to send him “happy birthday” wishes.
“His 101st birthday party was canceled because of the impact of the Coronavirus. Please share and comment to help us make his upcoming birthday special. Please leave him a message here. Take 60 seconds and do it for Owen!” In honor of his 101st birthday, Owen wanted 101,000 likes/comments from people across the Internet.
Of course, the Internet was quick to come through for Owen. “Owen, wishing you much happiness on your birthday and always. From Sarah in Ottawa, Canada,” someone writes. Another says, “Happy Birthday Owen🎉🎉🎂from Port St Lucie Fl. Although you won’t have your friends in front of you, you will have all these wonderful posts to read on your big day. I am sure a party is in the near future. Enjoy your special day!”

Thousands of comments poured in from people across the globe. “Happy Birthday Owen! (From Australia). My Nan, Joy, turned 101 nearly 6 weeks ago. I feel very blessed to have been able to celebrate her birthday with her in person. She’s ”Joy” by name and a sheer joy by nature! Here she is, raising a glass to you for your 101st! Cheers!” someone shares.
There’s no word yet from Safa or Owen, but so far the original tweet has over 150k likes and over 20k retweets. We hope he’s getting just as many comments with birthday wishes. Happy birthday, Owen!
