A woman who was born on a leap day 100 years ago has officially celebrated her “25th birthday!” Angie Crognale, who is originally from Port Norris, New Jersey, was born on February 29th, 1920. She would move into an assisted living home in 1994 at the age of 76. She has since been the longest-residing person in the home and has made lots of friends through the years! Angie was even recognized by former President George W. Bush for her volunteer work in the community.

Angie now spends most of her time with  Dolores Monzo and Mildred Annucci, two friends who she lived very close to. However, they didn’t officially become close until they all met formally in the assisted living home so many years later! “A hundred years. I can’t believe it. I feel like I’m about 75,” Angie tells news outlets.

When asked what she remembered from the 1920s, she simply responds, “Nothing.” She continues, “I remember the 30s. I remember the Depression. I remember I didn’t have a penny to go buy a pretzel. That is how bad it was.”

She was also asked what her secret was to making it to her 25th leap year. “Be nice to everybody,” Angie says. “Live well. Stay nice and calm. Don’t let anything bother you. That’s it. That is the story of my life.” Angie continues to keep up with her lifestyle of hanging out with friends, playing bingo, and just enjoying life. “Do you think you might even feel like you are 25?” WPVI asks Angie. She responds, “No, don’t think so,” with a smile. Happy 100th/25th birthday to Angie!
