Shoes With GPS Insole Allows You To Track Loved Ones With Alzheimer’s Or Dementia

New, life-saving technology is being made each day that allows us to accomplish things we never have before. One of those new technologies is GPS insole. It allows you to keep track of your loved ones, especially if they have Alzheimer’s or dementia. One study confirms that 130 people with dementia went missing in Australia from 2011 to 2015. Of those 130 people, 71% were found alive, 20% were injured, and 19% were found dead.

Another study finds that 60% of Americans with Alzheimer’s will ‘wander’ at some point. That is why investing in SmartSole is a great idea for caregivers handling loved ones with these diseases. The built-in tracking chip with a cellular signal from the GPS insole will allow you to always know where your loved one is.

The website for SmartSole notes that this is a fantastic investment, partially because of the fact that even those with dementia or Alzheimer’s will remember to wear shoes. “This system capitalizes on procedural memory,” they say on their website. “Which means even those with advanced memory disorders typically remember to wear shoes!”

They continue to add, “This is wearable technology that not only provides peace of mind but can also save lives while preserving the privacy and dignity of the wearer.” The great thing about this is the SmartSole is completely hidden, so the wearer won’t try to remove them as can happen with bracelets or other wearables.

An incredible investment for safety and peace of mind

The insoles work to send a location to the server every 5-10 minutes. This location data is put on a map where caregivers can access online or through the company’s mobile app. If the loved one being tracked leaves an ‘assigned’ area, the caregiver will be notified via email and text with their last known location.

These insoles cost $299 per pair along with two different monthly service plans. One of them allows an update every 5 minutes or an update every 10 minutes. The product has many testimonies and great reviews. One of them reads, “She still wanders off but with the smartsole we can get to her before she reaches a busy road or a traffic area.”
