101-year-old Callie Terrell may be up there in age but she has no plans of stopping her work! This makes her the oldest working beautician in the state of Tennessee and maybe even the country. “Well, I can’t describe it. I’m thankful I’m physically able to do some of the things I used to do,” she tells WREG. “I guess it’s not a lot of 101-year-old people in Memphis still working because they say, ‘Still working?’ Well, I’m still alive.”
When Callie celebrated her 100th birthday last year, she said she was ready to retire. Now, she says that retirement isn’t an option for her. “Well if you don’t use it, you lose it and people want me to work on them and they pay me, so why not do it,” she says.
Terrell credits her long life to truly loving the work that she does on a daily basis and having a passion for it. This is the main reason why she has yet to stop her work. “I guess my secret is just working and keeping busy because that’s what I’ve done. I had a very successful business and what I do, I enjoy doing.”

Terrell also hopes to inspire young people. “Just do the right thing. What I mean is, you may be a church person. You believe in the Bible? Just live it,” she says. “Love people. Regardless of who they are. If they don’t love you in return it doesn’t matter.” Check out the video below from 2018, when Terrell was just about to turn 101. She looks amazing still!
