The Christian pop band For King & Country performed a powerful rendition of “Little Drummer Boy” at the CMA Country Christmas special. For King & Country is comprised of Joel and Luke Smallbone. There were mixed fan reactions about the cover of the song and the performance in general.
“Little Drummer Boy” was first recorded by the Trapp Family Singers in 1951. Now, For King & Country completely reinvented the song and made it a rock song. Many fans loved the version and said it was an amazing cover and will be playing on repeat during the holiday season.
In addition, the scene was very dramatic with lots of flashing lights and smoke. They certainly brought a new take on the classic Christmas song!

Others did not love the cover and wondered why the group was on the CMA Country Christmas special in the first place. Generally, the band is pop and Christian music. So, this led many country music fans to wonder why they were included in the country music special.
