Ten Of The Saddest Moments From ‘M*A*S*H’

6. When Radar leaves

Radar leaves / CBS

Radar was considered one of the funniest people on the base. There was a two-part episode called “Good-Bye Radar,” and his farewell party was interrupted by the reality of war.

7. When Winchester survives

Winchester / CBS

Okay, this seems like a happy moment, but Winchester has a tough time dealing with his near-death experience. He tries to find the meaning of life and death and can’t really wrap his head around why he survived and many others didn’t. He seems to be haunted by his questions.

8. When Lt. Col. Henry Blake dies

Lt. Col. Henry Blake / CBS

One of the most depressing parts of the show was when Lt. Col. Henry Blake is about to go home and see his family and then he dies. The helicopter he is riding in gets shot down. M*A*S*H wanted to show the horrible realities of war.

9. When Trapper leaves

Trapper / CBS

Hawkeye and Trapper were best friends. Trapper gets his discharge orders early and has no choice but to leave without saying a word. Hawkeye is heartbroken that his friend is gone and he didn’t even get to say goodbye.

10. The finale

Finale / CBS

Of course, we couldn’t make this list without discussing the series finale. The final episode is considered one of the best series finals of all time. It was really bittersweet and made many fans cry. Did you tear up while watching the finale?

How well do you remember the ‘M*A*S*H’ series finale?
